Making A Fuss
Making Video Games

I have always been interested in video game design. Often I’ve been playing a game and noted what I would do differently, or a feature that I would like to see more prevalently. Last week I read the Wikipedia article on video game design.

The article mentions the program Game Maker. It sounded solid, so I decided to check it out. I like it. It’s easy for a novice like me to use, but I understand that it will offer a more in-depth interface later on when I develop chops.

I know enough about programming to know that I’m eventually going to have to graduate to learning real languages and writing code, but for now I have some resources that work for me at my level.

The website has tutorials on how to make a few different types of games. I’ve already finished a simple but very satisfying game where a cat pops up and you click on it. I think my nephew will like it; he likes cats. I am currently working on a basic maze game.
